Fighter Integrated Tactical Data Link Training System (FITTS)
The company’s latest development is the Fighter Integrated Tactical Data Link Training System (FITTS) which provides a Link 16 Ground Support System for training fighter pilots in the use of Link 16 on board the F-16 Fighter Aircraft. This system allows scripted scenarios to be created and run over the Simulation LAN that generate simulated tactical information, radar and data link tracks, that are displayed to the Trainee in the functional F-16 Cockpit Simulator. The Trainee is required to perform Pre-flight, Taxi, Take-off and In-flight Data Link procedures, and respond to simulated in-flight operational situations, such as hostile engagements.

Each Fighter Pilot Unit (FPU) is able to simulate the tactical picture with respect to in-flight Link 16 operations. The FPU consists of a F16 functional cockpit simulator with Link16 Pilot Vehicle Interface (PVI) capability as well as realistic instrumentation and flight controls. The unit receives and processes the simulated data in accordance with the aircraft’s mission system capabilities and transmits the derived “mission system” information to the simulated Link 16 network as a non-C2 JU. The pilot trainee is required to react to simulated command and control information from Link 16 while in simulated flight. Multiple FPUs can be connected on the Simulation LAN for composite team training.
